It was back in 2018, when I first heard about the ESO-Project
to build the „Extremely Large Telescope“ - the ELT. It is a giant
telescope placed in the Atacama desert in Chile, which will allow
a deeper exploration of our universe and give clearer views of
cosmic objects than ever before.

Songs like "Deep View", "Cosmic Light", "La Silla" or "2027", were
mainly influenced by this project. Although I performed some
of them during my live shows at the SUPERNOVA planetary in
Garching/Munich, they never found a place on an album.

After reading up on the details about the scientific
instruments of the ELT, the idea to write an album
with two different aspects was born:

Part 1 is a concept album, which describes the place, where the
ELT is being built right now, the building process as well as the
instruments of the ELT (the combination of those instruments
makes this giant construction so precious for astronomy). For
each track I used the exact same musical instruments (virtual
and physical) in order to write songs, which are all part of one
unique sound system, yet different in some aspects.

Part 2 is where I put all songs together, which were written over
the years for many different space related topics. Some tracks
were carefully remixed or rewritten, others are new and were
written on a spontaneous idea.

For the title of this album I thought about a word or phrase that
combines these two worlds. Ideally one word, which hints at the
ELT project while describing my music best:

If "classic" electronic music (say, Berliner Schule) is your thing, this amazing compilation is a must have for an excellent value for money (and all proceedings will be donated to help victims of this summer's flood here in Germany). While pre-listening I might have checked about 10 tracks only one failing to impress me much. These other tracks are exactly how I love my ecletronic music: Relaxing the soul but engaging the mind (if that does make sense ;-) ). Carsten Pieper
